Each life moves through a cycle of twelve years. The cycle is not a calendar — it begins where your birth places you and turns from there. Some years sow, some years harvest, some years require endurance. The cycle is a map: not of fate, but of the kind of year you are inhabiting.

The Twelve Phases

• Phase 1 — First Light · 初相 — A new self emerging. Sow the seed.
• Phase 2 — Clear Reflection · 清相 — Vision sharpens. Give form to plans.
• Phase 3 — Crimson Bloom · 朱相 — Passion meets action. Strike now.
• Phase 4 — Stillness · 静相 — Inward turning. Review and reorganize.
• Phase 5 — Full Mirror · 満相 — Achievement and recognition.

• Phase 6 — Veil of Shadow · 翳相 — Shadows appear. Proceed with caution.
• Phase 7 — Veil of Ripple · 波相 — Disturbance and trial. Hold steady.
• Phase 8 — Veil of Crack · 裂相 — Collapse and rebuild. Endure, do not act.

• Phase 9 — Sealed Silence · 閉相 — Quietude returns. Recharge.
• Phase 10 — Abyssal Depth · 淵相 — Roots descend deep. Invisible growth.
• Phase 11 — Daybreak · 暁相 — Light returns to the horizon.
• Phase 12 — Returning Cycle · 還相 — The wheel turns toward the next First Light.

A Note on the Three Veils

The Three Veils are the most difficult years of the cycle, but they are not punishment. Every life enters them once every twelve years. They are when major decisions tend to fail, when relationships built in their shadow tend to dissolve, and when grasping at what is leaving causes the most damage.

What survives the Three Veils is what was built on solid ground. What does not survive was not stable to begin with. The framework's value here is not to predict the storm, but to identify when you are standing in one — so that you can shelter rather than rebuild.

When Two Cycles Meet

In a relationship, two people are each within their own twelve-year cycle, often in different phases. When both partners enter the Three Veils simultaneously — what we call Double Veils — the relationship faces its greatest test.
